Mechanical Engineering Intern – Plasma Systems (BSc / MSc | HBO / WO)

Location: Haarlem region, Netherlands
Location requirement: Must be located in the Netherlands and/or possess a BSN (Dutch civil service ID)

Duration: 6-month internship with evaluation for permanent placement
Start Date: Flexible
Compensation: €800 per month internship allowance

The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern – Plasma Systems, you will work on the physical core of our technology: the mechanical design, construction, and iteration of plasma systems. This is a hands-on engineering internship focused on real hardware development.

At KapiteinLabs, interns are embedded in projects at the frontier of science and engineering, collaborating with leading academic and industrial partners including Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), ETH Zurich, and Hitachi Energy, as well as private research partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of non-thermal plasma systems
  • Engineering of plasma reactor tubes, flanges, and structures
  • Building and modifying prototypes and test setups
  • Supporting testing, troubleshooting, and iteration
  • Documentation of designs and build iterations

Your Profile

  • BSc or MSc student in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Strong hands-on engineering mindset
  • Experience or affinity with CAD and mechanical construction
