The opportunity
Join us at a pivotal commercialization stage. As our Product Specialist Intern, you will define technical requirements for ozone applications across industries—from agriculture to spa facilities, air purification to water treatment. You will also help tailor the Bluereactor alongside with our technical and commercial teams to each sector’s specific needs. Exceptional performers may advance to a full-time product or application engineering role.
Your role & impact
As our Product Specialist Intern, you will gather and analyze technical specifications for ozone applications across multiple sectors. Working directly with our Chief Science Officer and collaborating with commercial teams, you will evaluate installation requirements, performance and regulatory standards. Your research will support product customization, installation guidance, and technical documentation.
Core responsibilities
- Conduct technical research on ozone applications across sectors (agriculture, spa and wellness, air purification, water treatment, food processing, healthcare, and industry)
- Gather and document installation requirements, performance specifications, regulatory standards, safety limits, and operating parameters and translate findings into clear product specifications and customization needs
- Engage industry experts, installers and technical stakeholders to understand real-world constraints, used cases, and expected outcomes.
- Analyze competing ozone solutions and identify sector-specific regulations, certifications, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with our Chief Science Officer, Market Specialist and Business Development Director to align technical insights with product development and commercial strategy
- Build and maintain a structured technical knowledge database across all target sector
Technical focus areas
- Ozone Technology Applications: Understanding of ozone generation, concentration requirements, contact time and application methods across different industries
- Installation Specifications: Power supply requirements, gas flow systems, safety equipment, monitoring systems, and integration with existing infrastructure
- Performance Parameters: Yield specifications (g/kWh), production rates (g/h), concentration levels (mg/m³, ppm), energy consumption and efficiency metrics
Sector-Specific Requirements:
- Agriculture: Irrigation systems, greenhouse applications, soil treatment, pest control
- Spa & Wellness: Pool and hot tub sanitation, air quality, water treatment systems
- Air Purification: HVAC integration, standalone units, industrial ventilation, odor control
- Water Treatment: Drinking water, wastewater, process water, bottling applications
- Food Processing: Surface sanitation, cold storage, packaging, wash water treatment
- Healthcare: Sterilization, air quality, medical water systems
- Industrial: Cooling towers, laundry systems, chemical processes
- Regulatory Landscape: Industry standards, safety regulations, environmental compliance, certification requirements
- Technical Documentation: Creating clear, structured specifications that bridge engineering and market needs
Your profile
Essential qualifications
- Master’s degree (completed or near completion) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology, Environmental Science, Process Engineering, or related technical field
- Master’s thesis focused on ozone technology, clean technology applications, or ozone-based environmental solutions
- Strong technical aptitude with ability to understand and communicate complex engineering concepts
- Excellent research and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English
- Ability to translate technical information for different audiences (engineers, business developers, customers)
- Structured and methodical working style with strong organizational skills
- Proactive, self-motivated attitude with ability to work independently
- Demonstrated passion for environmental technology and sustainability through academic work
Valued experience (not required but highly appreciated)
- Master’s thesis specifically on ozone generation, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), plasma technology, or ozone applications in water/air treatment
- Research experience in clean technology, environmental engineering, or sustainable process design
- Previous internship or project work in product development, application engineering, or technical specification development
- Hands-on laboratory or pilot-scale experience with ozone systems, plasma reactors, or oxidation processes
- Experience with technical documentation, specification sheets, or engineering standards
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in environmental technology, food safety, or medical devices
- Publications or conference presentations related to ozone or clean technology
- Experience conducting technical interviews or consulting with industry experts
- Familiarity with technical competitive analysis and benchmarking
- Understanding of B2B technical solution development and application engineering
- Exposure to industry sectors such as agriculture, water treatment, or HVAC systems
